Rookies
April 2021 - EPISODE 2
juggling training with 'normal' Life
In the first episode, we meet the Rookies up close.
They're a cast of amateur runners brave enough to take on Ironman Triathlon.
When was the last time you tried something new? When was the last time you set yourself a lofty goal? When you were a newbie or a rookie at something? When we think of what is holding us back, the majority of the time it comes down to one thing, fear.
The fear of the unknown, the fear of being uncomfortable, the fear of not knowing, the fear of looking stupid, the fear of failure.
The Rookies project is all about creating an environment that celebrates and embraces this fear, removing the barriers that are perceived to be in-front of us, creating a community that chases ambition together, through the ups and the downs, the laughs and the cries, because in the end things are better celebrated together.
This season sees an eclectic group from Sydney coming together to complete their first ironman distance triathlon, what many deem as the ultimate one day endurance test. Some have a team sports background, others very little endurance pedigree, some have big ambitions, some are just along for the ride and aim to finish. We will be along for the ride as we capture their journey to the red carpet at the Asia Pacific Championships at Cairns Ironman in June.
